This resource introduces children to Asquith Xavier -the man who fought against racism in the work place and won! Not only did he ensure his own employment rights but he was instrumental in strengthening the Race Relations Act and in the creation of the Commission for Racial Equality which improved the lives of many.

This resource includes:

  • a presentation (in both powerpoint and pdf format)
  • A differentiated worksheet

It is recommended that children first watch the presentation and then move on to complete the English/Art task which is to design a commemorative plaque.

This resource is aimed at and has been successfully used by KS2 level children however it could be suitable for other age groups too.

Minimal supplies are needed- just something to write and colour with.

This resource is ideal to use during Black History Month but it is an important topic for children to learn about at any time of the year.
