This resource for Kindergarten/Year 1/Year 2 is based on the text and illustrations from my picture book Billy the Bat鈥檚 Big Adventure. This is a funny story, with rhyming text, based on a true event, when my husband (aged about 11) found a bat on the floor of a local cave. He took the bat home and hid it in the bathroom cupboard, where it gave his Mum a fright when she went to fetch a towel.

The resource contains a copy of the full story text, a discussion document to encourage children to discuss the story and also a set of images which can be printed and laminated for use in, for example, Bingo, Memo, sequencing tasks, drama activities and puppet shows.

It鈥檚 a funny story, but beyond its entertainment factor, it can also be used in an educational way to talk to small children about topics such as habitats, seasons, hibernation and animal welfare. I鈥檝e read and workshopped the story quite often with pre-school and early years children in my local area and I hope you will find it useful for your students.
