Back to School Coloring Pages, 79 printable sheets of backpacks, pencils, books, and apples, built for the first week of school in any elementary classroom. Print what you need, when you need it.

What Fills the 79 Sheets

The backpack shows up often, drawn with two shoulder straps, a front pocket, a small buckle, and a wide smiling face across the flap. Pencils stand upright with sharpened tips and grinning bodies. Books appear both closed, standing on end with rosy cheeks, and open flat with ruled lines running across both pages. An apple with a curled leaf sits on top of one open book. A ruler leans in beside the backpack on another sheet. The lettering changes from page to page: sometimes BACK TO SCHOOL fills a speech bubble with a pointed tail, sometimes it arcs across the top in hollow capitals. Loose triangles, diamonds, circles, and stars drift through the background of every design.

Educational Benefits
  • Familiarity with school objects helps a nervous child recognize what the year will hold.
    • Fine motor control improves on the narrow straps and buckles of the backpack drawings.
    • Letter formation awareness grows while coloring inside the hollow capitals.
    • Sustained attention is drawn out by pages carrying many small background shapes.
    • A calm start to the morning comes from ten minutes of quiet coloring at the desk.
How to Use Them in the First Week
  • Put a sheet on each desk before the first bell so arrivals have something to do.
    • Use as an icebreaker while you take attendance and sort paperwork.
    • Run a coloring station during classroom orientation rotations.
    • Send home in a welcome packet with the supply list.
    • Display finished pages as the first hallway board of the year.
