Sample Activity:

1. Discuss your holiday with the class and see what they did. Model a short recount on the board of your holiday and then up level it using VCOP. It should be short enough to fit on a postcard. Demo how to form and space the letters.

Ask the children to write their own postcards to the class. Encourage them to include descriptions, emotions, smells, sights, sounds etc. These could be displayed or put in their time capsules.

1. On a piece of paper get children to draw a self-portrait using a mirror to check their features. Encourage them to make it life size by marking the length of their head against the paper (get them to measure the length of their head on the paper and ask them to note this measurement down on their personal data sheet) and then draw in their features.
   On another sheet of paper draw round one of their hands and feet, measure how long they are - ask them to note these measurements down on their personal data sheet.
