This printable set of three A4 Welsh Autumn poems is designed for Early Years and PS1 learners. Each poem follows the rhythm of a familiar nursery rhyme, making it ideal for second-language Welsh learners. The poems explore the theme of autumn through rhyme, rhythm, and simple language, helping children build confidence in speaking and understanding Welsh.
You’ll get three printable A4 poems (each with English translation beneath the Welsh text):
leaves are falling – to the tune of Five Little Ducks
the river is flowwing – to the tune of Row, Row, Row Your Boat
falling leaves – to the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star
These resources support learning through song and movement, and link beautifully with the Areas of Learning and Experience (AoLEs) in the Welsh Curriculum:
Mathematics & Numeracy – counting and sequencing through rhyme
Language, Literacy & Communication – developing Welsh vocabulary in context
Health and Wellbeing – promoting movement, rhythm, and expressive learning
Use these poems during circle time, outdoor learning, tuff tray play, or music and movement sessions. They also make lovely bilingual display pieces and can be paired with natural autumn materials for creative learning.
