Edexcel A Level Chemistry lesson covering atomic structure, subatomic particles, atomic number, mass number and isotopes, with exam practice and questions. All this and more covered in this comprehensive lesson with questions and answers! This is a Year 12 A level lesson for Edexcel Paper 1 – 9CH0/01, but it can also be used for all UK exam boards. All the slides in this lesson are fully animated and include answers to every mini plenary question and exam question.

Slide 1 - Title and 5-minute starter. The starter is a grid of four questions entitled ‘last week, last lesson, today’s learning and future learning’. Use this generic slide for all your lessons by simply changing the questions and the answers each time.
Slide 2 - Lesson objectives (see thumbnail image)
Slide 3 – information about sizes of atoms and nuclei
Slide 4 – most of the atom is empty space
Slide 5 – further explanation about the source of the mass of the atom
Slide 6 – mini plenary questions. A set of questions of increasing difficulty to review the students’ learning so far. Answers appear on the screen as you click
Slides 7 – 8: explanation that the mass of the nucleus comes from the protons and neutrons
Slides 9 – 11: a table of the charge and relative mass of the different sub-atomic particles. Print slides 10 – 11 so that the students can complete this in their books. Answers appear as you click
Slide 12 - mini plenary questions. A set of questions of increasing difficulty to review the students’ learning so far. Answers appear on the screen as you click
Slides 13 – 14: explanation of atomic number and relative atomic mass
Slide 15 – explanation of isotopes
Slide 16 – mini plenary. An exam question on isotopes, the mark scheme answer appears when you click
Slides 17 – 20: Independent practice. On this slide, students are given a table to fill in with the number of protons, electrons and neutrons of a range of chemical species. Answers animate as you click

Bundle

Edexcel UK A level Chemistry - lessons with questions and answers | Topic 1 | Atomic Structure and The Periodic Table

This bundle is comprised of 6 PowerPoint lessons covering Topic 1 – Atomic Structure and the Periodic Table for the Edexcel UK A level Chemistry course. The PowerPoints are as follows: 1. Atomic structure and isotopes 2. Relative formula mass and relative molecular mass 3. Mass spectrometry 4. Atomic orbitals and electronic configurations 5. Ionisation energies 6. Periodicity and Periodic Table Each lesson is exactly that . . . a lesson. There is a starter slide, lesson objectives slide, introduction of new knowledge slides, worked examples and then opportunities for students to try independent practice through mini plenary tasks comprised of several questions of graded difficulties. Questions are interspersed through the lessons at regular intervals and always have answers that animate on to the screen when you click. THESE ARE NOT THE INFORMATION ONLY TYPE SLIDES THAT SOME PEOPLE SELL, which are useless for delivering a lesson. We are a team of teachers, and these lessons have been made by actual Chemistry teachers who currently teach in secondary schools in England. We know exactly what you need, trust us. Almost every lesson has exam questions included as word documents which were made using Exam wizard. The mark scheme and examiner’s report is at the end of the exam question and the answers have been screen shotted and pasted into the PowerPoint at the end. All the slides in every lesson are fully animated and include answers to every mini plenary question and exam question. We also have lesson resources for every topic in Edexcel International A level Chemistry! Check out our store for more options! If you have a positive experience with the bundle, please leave a positive review! This really helps promote our store!
