AQA GCSE Biology – Inheritance, Variation and Evolution Complete Revision Workbook

A complete revision workbook covering the Inheritance, Variation and Evolution topic for AQA GCSE Biology.

I made this resource to bring the whole topic together in one place, with the revision content and practice built into the same workbook. Genetics in particular can be quite easy to get muddled with, so I’ve tried to break everything down into smaller sections with plenty of chances to practise along the way.

The workbook covers:

  • Sexual and asexual reproduction
  • Meiosis
  • DNA, genes, chromosomes and the genome
  • Genetic inheritance
  • Alleles, genotype and phenotype
  • Dominant and recessive alleles
  • Punnett squares and genetic crosses
  • Inherited disorders
  • Sex determination
  • DNA and protein synthesis
  • Variation and the causes of variation
  • Evolution by natural selection
  • Selective breeding
  • Genetic engineering
  • Cloning
  • Darwin, Wallace and Mendel
  • Evidence for evolution
  • Fossils
  • Extinction
  • Antibiotic-resistant bacteria
  • Classification and evolutionary relationships
  • Mixed retrieval practice
  • Exam-style questions and full answers

Throughout the workbook, I’ve included clear revision notes, diagrams, worked examples, quick-check questions, calculations, common mistakes, exam tips and application questions.

There is plenty of practice with areas students often find difficult, particularly Punnett squares, inheritance terminology and explaining natural selection, rather than simply giving students the information to read.

Biology-only and Higher Tier content is clearly labelled so students can easily see which sections apply to them.

Towards the end of the workbook there is mixed retrieval practice covering content from across the topic, followed by original exam-style questions with full answers and model responses. There is also a final checklist students can use to identify anything they still need to revise.

The pack can be worked through from beginning to end or used to focus on individual areas, making it suitable for independent revision, homework, tutoring, intervention sessions or classroom revision.

I’ve tried to keep the explanations straightforward and student-friendly while still including the detail needed to properly understand and apply the content in GCSE exam questions.

64 pages with answers included throughout.

This resource is part of my matching AQA GCSE Biology revision workbook series, alongside Cell Biology, Organisation, Infection and Response, Bioenergetics and Homeostasis and Response.

AQA GCSE Biology Complete Revision Bundle – All 7 Topics

AQA GCSE Biology Complete Revision Bundle – All 7 Topics A complete AQA GCSE Biology revision bundle containing all seven of my Biology topic workbooks in one collection. I’ve put this bundle together for students who would rather have the whole course in one place instead of buying each topic separately. Each workbook is designed to be worked through independently, so students can either follow the course topic by topic or go straight to the areas they need to revise most. The bundle includes all 7 topics: - Cell Biology - Organisation - Infection and Response - Bioenergetics - Homeostasis and Response - Inheritance, Variation and Evolution - Ecology Across the collection there are over 500 pages of revision and practice, including clear topic notes, diagrams, worked examples, required practicals, calculations, retrieval practice and exam-style questions. I’ve tried to make the workbooks feel more like something students can actually work through rather than just another set of notes to read. Throughout the resources you’ll find Quick Checks, Remember boxes, exam tips, common mistakes, application questions and worked examples, with answers included so students can check their progress as they go. The bundle also includes plenty of practice with the areas that tend to cause problems in exams, including: - Required practicals - Maths and calculation questions - Graph and data interpretation - Applying knowledge to unfamiliar situations - Longer written responses - Higher Tier content - Biology-only content - Mixed retrieval practice - Original exam-style questions and model answers Each topic finishes with opportunities to bring everything together, rather than only practising one small section at a time. The resources can be used for independent revision, homework, tutoring, intervention, classroom revision or preparation for mocks and final GCSE exams. Students don’t have to complete hundreds of pages from beginning to end either. The separate topic workbooks make it easy to focus on a particular area, revisit weaker topics or use individual sections alongside classroom teaching. Included in this bundle: 7 complete AQA GCSE Biology revision workbooks with answers. Purchased individually, the resources have a combined value of £41. Bundle price: £35 — saving £6 compared with buying all seven separately. A good option for students, parents, tutors or teachers looking for one complete set of revision resources covering the full AQA GCSE Biology course.
