Take your pupils on a journey to Ancient Greece through this engaging art history lesson and creative mask-making project. Students will discover how the Ancient Greeks influenced art, architecture, theatre, sport and everyday life, while exploring many of the ideas and traditions that continue to shape the modern world.

The lesson introduces pupils to Ancient Greek pottery, architecture, theatre and the Olympic Games. Students will learn about the three classical Greek column styles, how Greek architecture inspired many modern government buildings, and how Ancient Greek innovations still influence our lives today.

For the art project, pupils will create a Greek-inspired theatre mask based on one of six characters from Greek mythology. As they design and decorate their masks, students are introduced to the fascinating world of Greek gods, heroes and mythical creatures, helping spark curiosity about one of the most influential mythologies in history.
