Set sail on an exciting historical adventure with Gold, God or Glory?, a Monopoly-inspired board game based on the Age of Exploration!

Pupils will travel around the game board, collecting crew, answering trivia questions, using different forms of transport and facing unexpected events as they attempt to become the most successful explorer.

The game combines history, strategy, teamwork and friendly competition, providing a fun way for pupils to recall and apply their knowledge of the Age of Exploration.

This resource includes:

  • A complete Age of Exploration game board inspired by classic property-trading board games.
  • Crew Cards featuring famous explorers from both the Age of Exploration and more modern explorers.
  • Trivia Cards containing questions designed to test pupils’ knowledge of exploration, explorers, voyages and historical events.
  • Transport Cards featuring different forms of transport used by explorers, adding an extra strategic element to the game.
  • “Gold, God or Glory?” Chance Cards featuring unexpected events, challenges and opportunities inspired by the motivations and experiences of historical explorers.

The game can be played as a whole-class activity, in small groups or as a fun end-of-topic revision game.

An engaging way to turn historical retrieval practice into an exciting adventure while encouraging pupils to work together, make decisions and apply their knowledge.
