Here are fifteen beginner level French dictations to use with your lower level students. They are not very long. Each dictation is a separate audio file. Answer key and translation provided for each dictation.

Sample dictation:

TITRE : La mer
TEXTE : Je joue dans l'eau avec mon ami, Pascal. La mer est bleue. J'aime la plage.

TRADUCTION : I am playing in the water with my friend, Pascal. The sea is blue. I
like the beach.

"Dictation is the transcription of spoken text: one person who is "dictating" speaks and another who is "taking dictation" writes down the words as they are spoken. Among speakers of several languages, dictation is used as a test of language skill, similar to spelling bees in the English-speaking world."
