A PPT which is part of a unit designed to teach students how to engage with a range of written and visual texts. This is the 6th lesson (at the end of Term 1) and so is about general topics (including those previously examined).

This lesson covers:
• Colours. An explanation of primary and secondary colours.
• How different colours can evoke moods (e.g. bright vs dull).
• Adjectives to describe colours
• Body language (open and closed) and posture
• Facial expressions and gaze
• Activity: identify facial expressions from teen films
• Lines (horizontal, vertical, diagonal and curved)
• Shapes and symbolism
• Shot sizes
• Quiz – identifying shot sizes
• Fast finishers – looking at sources about teenagers to practice identifying representations, ideas, opinions, language features and text structures

Context: A lesson designed for use in a 12 Essential English classroom in Queensland, Australia as part of Unit 3 “Language the Influences.” I have a mixed ability class (including QCIA learners).
