A PPT which is part of a unit designed to teach students how to engage with a range of written and visual texts. This is the 5th lesson (at the end of Term 1) and so is about general topics (including those previously examined).

This lesson covers:
• Terms foreground and background (text structures)
• Learning about some visual language features you can find in stimulus texts (font, emojis, camera angles.)
• A quick quiz about camera angles.
• Why are camera angles used in films?
• Why are camera angles used in advertisements (still photographs)?

This is a mini lesson and can be followed by a viewing activity of your choosing.

Context: A lesson designed for use in a 12 Essential English classroom in Queensland, Australia as part of Unit 3 “Language the Influences.” I have a mixed ability class (including QCIA learners).
