A grid for students to fill out as they learn the properties of 2D shapes

I made these for my Year 1 class in the hope of making 2D shape properties a bit more interesting. They can describe the properties of the shape e.g. 3 sides, 3 corners. They are also able to name the shape e.g. Terry Triangle. They can then either cut and stick photos of or draw, for example, triangle shaped objects he might disguise himself as at the bottom. Hope it helps someone out there and saves them some time! It includes the following shapes: Rectangle Circle Square Triangle Hexagon Pentagon Octagon Oval

This worksheet is perfect to test the children’s knowledge after introducing them to the properties edges and vertices of 2D shapes. I used this worksheet for a P5 class (Year 4). 1 worksheet includes some irregular polygons for children that need an extra challenge.

I've been searching everywhere for a set of regular 2D shapes with their properties also listed. I couldn't find them anywhere so have created some simple posters. I thought someone else might find these useful!

This powerpoint covers all common 2D shapes, properties and related vocabulary. This is a useful tool to use when revising 2D shapes and introducing the correct terminology to use when describing/identifying shapes. This can also be used to introduce further 2D shapes following pupils previous learning in past years.

Challenge 1- read the properties and write down what shape has been described using the word bank to support (triangle, square, rectangle and circle). Challenge 2- read the properties and match this to the correct shape (triangle, square, rectangle, circle, hexagon, pentagon and semi-circle).
