A carefully designed worksheet to help students develop their understanding of surface area by connecting 3D shapes to their nets.

Each question shows a 3D shape with its dimensions alongside a net that is built up gradually, one face at a time. Students are encouraged to calculate and record the area of each face as the net develops, before eventually working with the complete net.

With 6 different questions and scaffolded build-ups, the resource gives students plenty of support while helping them see how the individual faces contribute to the total surface area.

The numbers are carefully chosen to keep the calculations accessible, with integer answers throughout and no decimals. The arithmetic becomes slightly more demanding towards the later questions, providing a gradual increase in challenge.

Ideal for lower-attaining students or anyone who benefits from visual scaffolding and a clear step-by-step approach, while still providing useful practice for any class working on surface area.

A visual, structured way to build confidence with nets, area and surface area.
