Edexcel A-Level History:Rebellion & Disorder under the Tudors - Lesson 5: Tudor Parliament Part One

A full 90-minute A-level History lesson designed to be ready to teach, with clear structure, engaging activities, and opportunities for analytical written work. This lesson comes with a full, detailed lesson plan as well as all resources.
Tasks can also be adapted for two shorter teaching sessions.

This lesson is the first of two looking at the relationship between Tudor Monarchs and parliament. By the end of the lesson students should be able to:

1. Explain the main functions of Parliament, compare how Tudor monarchs used it, and reach a judgement about its importance and its limits.
2. Formulate an answer to the question: If monarchs were so powerful, why did Parliament matter at all?

This is a complete, classroom-ready lesson with a range of activities, including discussion, independent work, and analytical tasks. It is designed to build secure subject knowledge while encouraging students to think carefully about power, authority, and the nature of Tudor government.
