Three trauma-sensitive calming posters for the classroom wall, EYFS to secondary, teaching pupils a simple grounding practice they can use independently.

Each poster teaches the same three-step self-regulation sequence, feet on the floor, slow breathing, and noticing the breath in the body, adapted in language and design for the age group it’s aimed at.

“Feeling Wobbly?” (ages 4 to 7) uses bright, friendly visuals and simple, concrete instructions a young child can follow independently once taught by an adult.

“Press YOUR Superpower Button” (ages 7 to 11) reframes the same steps with bolder colours and more independent language. “Reboot” (ages 11 to 16) is a minimal, discreet card designed to be screenshotted and kept private on a phone, with a trauma-sensitive alternative for pupils who’d rather visualise the grounding step than do it in front of others.

These posters pair naturally with our staff resource, A Grounded Approach: mindful tools for sensitive conversations with pupils, which teaches the adult side of the same grounding practice for safeguarding conversations.

Print for the classroom wall, or share digitally for pupils to use.

Created by Lorraine E Murray, teacher trainer with 20+ years of experience bringing mindfulness to adults, teens and children, and trained in working with -experienced children aged 3 to 17.
