This lesson contains:

  • An introduction to the constitutional monarchy and the situation with Louis’ power. Then, an activity to study a table of information about the things happening in the final year of Louis’ life and to decide which ones made the French people feel betrayed or threatened.
  • An overview of Louis’ death using pictures on the board and some info, which students then use to complete a gap fill about the death of the King.
  • A main activity to study about the terror. This is introduced through a short video on YouTube and then a reading comprehension.
  • A plenary to consider some small case studies and what would happen to them during the terror.
