This lesson includes:

  • A do it now activity which can be edited to suit whatever you taught last.
  • A teacher-led introduction to Doggerland and the early movement of people. There is a short YouTube video and then the students use the information to complete the worksheet timeline for the first settlers and the Stone Age.
  • Another activity to read about the Beaker People and add this to their timelines, including about the Bronze Age.
  • A final task to complete the rest of the timeline by looking at the Celts and the reasons they migrated and about the Iron Age.
  • A consolidation activity to consider how each of the groups survived. This is followed by a plenary to sum up the learning.
