This complete Kindergarten Opinion Writing unit gives you everything you need to teach opinion writing from the first lesson through the Share Chair celebration.

WHAT STUDENTS LEARN

Week 1 — What Is an Opinion? (Lessons 1-4)
Students explore the difference between facts and opinions, learn to use because to link their opinion to a reason, and practice finding strong versus weak reasons.

Week 2 — Building My Opinion Book (Lessons 5-8)
Students plan, then write Pages 2-4 of their Opinion Book using the frames I think, One reason is, and Another reason is. Each lesson focuses on one page.

Week 3 — Finishing and Sharing (Lessons 9-12)
Students write their closing page, improve their drawings, edit for capitals/spaces/periods, and celebrate at the Share Chair.
