**Iconic Artist of Pop History - Rick Astley. Secondary Music classes.
**
This is an introduction powerpoint that explores Manufactured bands from the 1980s by SAW, and listening to Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up”

The powerpoint includes:

  • A starter activity and suggested answers
  • Intro to Rick Astley and some fun facts
  • Intro into manufactured bands from the 1980s
  • Listening activities related to “Never Gonna Give You Up”
  • Includes the lyrics and a link to the song on YouTube
  • Suggested extension ideas a teacher can use in the classroom for practical work.

This is an ideal lesson for exploring pop history, male artists and as part of a larger history of pop music project. It could also be used as sub work or delivered in a non-specialist music room.

It links with the KS3 Curriculum topic 3, unit 1 (pop history) which is available to purchase on Passionate About Music Education TES page.
