The lesson includes:

  • A starter activity and retrieval practice
  • Vocabulary-building tasks using only vocabulary checked against the Edexcel GCSE Spanish (2024) prescribed vocabulary list. Words that are not part of the prescribed lists are starred (*).
  • Reading, translation and comprehension activities
  • Grammar practice (adjectives) with high-frequency language
  • Challenge activities aimed at higher-attaining students
  • A printable student workbook
  • Answers to all activities
  • Dictation (includes audio file)

Ideal for Year 10 or Year 11 students, this lesson provides an excellent introduction to the Spanish-speaking world while reinforcing key GCSE vocabulary and exam skills. All vocabulary has been carefully checked against the Edexcel GCSE Spanish (2024) prescribed vocabulary list, ensuring complete specification coverage and giving teachers confidence that students are practising relevant exam language.

*Teacher Note: Some slides from previous versions of this lesson have been left at the end of the presentation. Although they are not referenced in the main lesson, they may be useful as additional extension, consolidation or revision activities. Feel free to adapt or use them as appropriate for your classes.

Theacher note 2: In the vocabulary sheet, words marked with an asterisk () are intended for Higher Tier students. Words that are both bold and marked with an asterisk () are not part of the Edexcel GCSE Spanish (2024) prescribed vocabulary list, but have been included because they are useful within the context of the lesson.
