Final writing outcome

An extended wartime narrative set on Dartmoor in 1940, telling the story of two London evacuees who discover a crashed German bomber crew and must decide whether to help or report them. Pupils build moral conflict through internal monologue and dialogue, then resolve it with an act of unexpected compassion.

Grammar features (Year 4 NC-aligned)
  • Fronted adverbials to sequence and locate events, separated from the main clause by a comma.
  • Inverted commas and dialogue punctuation, with a new line for each new speaker.
