Prepare your ESOL Entry 1 / CEFR A1 learners for Speaking & Listening assessment with Week 9 of the ProTeach Education series.

This pack provides a structured mock assessment and observation resource based around the familiar theme Me and My Home, allowing learners to demonstrate the speaking, listening and interaction skills developed during previous weeks.

This Week 9 pack includes:

Knowledge Organiser – My Home
A highly visual learner support resource bringing together key vocabulary, useful questions, model answers, sentence starters and grammar needed for the mock assessment. Learners can use it to review and practise before completing the assessment activities.

Mock Assessment – Me and My Home
A structured assessment covering three areas:

Activity 1 – Listening: learners listen for and identify key information.
Activity 2 – Talking About My Home: learners give personal information and describe their home, rooms, likes and dislikes.
Activity 3 – Discussion: learners ask and answer questions and demonstrate their ability to maintain a short conversation.

The accompanying observation checklist allows teachers to record performance across communication and language skills including:

speaking clearly
using full sentences
appropriate vocabulary
pronunciation
fluency
comprehension
asking and answering questions
maintaining a conversation

The resource also provides space to record strengths (WWW), development targets (EBI), teacher comments, learner confidence and overall assessment readiness, making it useful for both formative assessment and preparation for formal Speaking & Listening assessment.
