A gentle detective mystery built for your youngest readers. In “The Sad Bunny,” a classroom friend is upset — and only by reading characters’ feelings and motivations will pupils work out what happened and who can help.

This is Case File K-02: The Sad Bunny — the second paid K-2 case in the DeskMade Detective Agency series. Designed for ages 5-7 and built to feel like a real (but friendly) case file, with picture support throughout. A lovely fit for SEL and emotional-literacy work.

HOW IT WORKS: Pupils work through three picture-supported evidence stations, reading clues about how characters feel and why. Each correct answer rules out a suspect until just one remains — so the activity is self-checking and confidence-building.

SKILLS COVERED:
• Identifying character feelings and emotions
• Understanding character motivation
• Social-emotional learning (SEL) and empathy
• Using picture and text clues; early reasoning

WHAT’S INCLUDED:
• Print-and-go student case booklet (PDF) — 3 stations
• Full answer key (PDF) for instant marking
• Editable Google Slides version for digital or projected play

PERFECT FOR: early-years and KS1 reading centres, SEL and circle time, guided reading, early finishers, and substitute/cover lessons.

Part of the DeskMade Detective Agency ELA Whodunnit series — classroom-ready mysteries that do the prep for you. Collect all four K-2 cases in the bundle and save.
