If you need editing practice that actually gets pupils thinking, this set uses short texts about unusual real-life jobs to keep things interesting.

Pupils read short paragraphs about jobs like golf ball divers and water slide testers, then spot and correct mistakes in spelling, punctuation, and grammar. Each task finishes with rewriting the passage accurately, so they’re applying what they’ve fixed.

Every passage comes in three levels, so you can give the same text to the whole class while adjusting the level of challenge.

What pupils do:
• Read short, real-world texts
• Identify and correct SPaG errors
• Rewrite each passage correctly

Skills covered:
• Sentence structure (including run-ons and fragments)
• Capital letters
• Punctuation (commas, apostrophes, full stops)
• Grammar and usage
• Spelling
• Proofreading and editing

How you might use this:
• SPaG revision or test prep (KS2 SATs)
• Guided group work or intervention
• Literacy centres or early finisher tasks

What’s included:
• 5 editing passages based on unusual jobs
• 3 differentiated versions of each passage
• Space for pupils to rewrite
• Answer sheets

The three levels make it easy to support mixed-ability groups without creating separate lessons, and because the content stays the same, it keeps everyone on track together.

If this works well for your class, there are more editing sets and grammar activities in the same style you can use across the term.
