Cowboy Coloring Pages, 63 printable sheets of hats, boots, and desert cactus for a western theme week at school or a homeschool unit on the Old West. Print as many as your group needs.

Out on the Range

The hat leads most designs, drawn with a wide curved brim, a creased crown, and a five pointed star pinned to the band. Below the brim sits a round face with a small smile and two soft cheeks. Boots come as a matching pair, pointed at the toe, with pull straps at the top and a star stitched onto the shaft. Dotted lines trace the seams. Cactus shapes fill the space around them, a tall saguaro with two raised arms and rows of short spines, and a squat barrel cactus beside it. Further detail comes from a horseshoe with punched nail holes, a coiled lasso with one loose rope end trailing away, and a folded bandana. The word YEEHAW appears inside a rounded frame on some pages and in tall open letters on others.

Educational Benefits
  • Pattern work is practiced along the stitch lines and spine rows.
    • Symmetry awareness grows while coloring a matched pair of boots.
    • Curved line control develops on the hat brim and the coils of the rope.
    • Theme vocabulary enters as children name the lasso, the horseshoe, and the brim.
    • Longer engagement comes from the busier pages, which carry several objects at once.
Ideas for These Sheets
  • Use during a wild west or pioneer history unit.
    • Print for a rodeo day or western dress up event.
    • Add to a summer camp craft rotation.
    • Pair with a story set on a ranch.
