Christmas order of operations colour by number for Year 6-7 (upper KS2 and lower KS3): ten printable colouring pages in which pupils solve calculations using the order of operations and reveal a Christmas picture, one section at a time. It is a festive way to practise BIDMAS (BODMAS) with brackets, multiplication, division, addition and subtraction.

Each page has 14 to 15 expressions and a colour key (6 = red, 8 = blue, 10 = brown, 12 = green and 15 = yellow). Pupils work inside the brackets first, then multiply and divide from left to right, then add and subtract from left to right. Areas without a calculation stay white. There are no exponents, so the pages suit pupils who are still building confidence with the order of operations.

What is included (10 pages, black and white)

  • 10 different Christmas scenes: The Christmas Cottage, Santa’s Gift Workshop, The Reindeer Express, The Gingerbread Bakery, The Christmas Tree, The Snowman’s Surprise, The Holiday Toy Train, The Cozy Christmas Fireplace, The North Pole Post Office and Christmas Eve in the Village
  • 14 to 15 expressions per page, with the colour key on every page
  • The same checked set of expressions repeats across the scenes for extra practice

No answer key pages are included.

Ways to use

  • Maths lessons in the last week of term
  • Early finishers and independent work
  • Revision or review of BIDMAS before a test
