A simple, practical child-led choice board in six different colour options, designed to support children to communicate preferences, make choices and take an active role in what happens next.

The six colour options make this particularly useful for autism class teachers and SNAs supporting several children. Each child can have their own colour, helping staff quickly identify individual boards and create consistency across the child鈥檚 visual supports.

Designed to support:

  • Making and communicating choices
  • Student voice and autonomy
  • Participation in classroom activities
  • Visual communication
  • Predictability and understanding
  • Children who communicate in different ways

The board can be used alongside a child鈥檚 existing communication system or other visual supports. It is intended to add to and support established communication methods, rather than replace them.

Suitable for:
SEN settings, autism classes, mainstream classrooms, special education settings and individual support.

A small, practical resource from CalmNotQuiet, created with a child-led, neuroaffirmating approach.

This is an independent CalmNotQuiet resource.
