A complete, print-and-go calm corner for your classroom: a feelings scale, calming strategy cards, breathing posters and choice boards in one gentle, low-arousal visual set.

The Calm Corner Kit gives every child a simple, consistent way to notice how they feel and choose something that helps. It uses its own four-step colour scale and original, uncluttered icons designed with SEN pupils in mind: large text, high contrast, one idea per visual and plenty of calm white space.

WHO IT’S FOR
Perfect for SEN, ASN and SEMH provision, autism and ADHD support, nurture rooms, calm corners and safe spaces, ELSA and pastoral work, and EYFS to KS2 classrooms. A supportive alternative to zones-style regulation displays, using person-first, non-judgemental language throughout: every feeling is welcome, with no good or bad choices.

WHAT’S INSIDE (16 pages)
• Cover and a one-page teacher guide to setting up a calm corner
• “How is my engine running?” feelings scale poster with a four-step colour scale (Ready, Fizzy, Wobbly, Overwhelmed) and friendly face icons
• Pupil check-in cards (2 per page, with cut guides) to point to or peg
• 12 calming strategy cards: breathe like a balloon, push the wall, squeeze and release, count five things, drink of water, quiet corner time, ask for a hug or space, wiggle and shake, count to ten, press your feet down, squeeze a cushion, look out the window
• 3 breathing posters with paths to trace: square breathing, smell the flower / blow the candle, and hand tracing
• 8 large “I need” communication cards: a break, help, quiet, toilet, movement, space, a drink, time out
• A calm-down choice board in blank and ready-made versions
• A “When I feel… I can try…” matching mat

HOW TO USE IT
Print the posters for your calm corner wall, then print, cut and laminate the cards onto a ring or into a wall pocket the child can reach. Teach the corner during a settled moment so it is familiar before it is needed. Use the feelings scale and check-in cards for gentle daily check-ins.

PRINTING TIPS
A4, print at 100% (actual size). Card stock and lamination make the cards hard-wearing. Undated and reusable year after year. UK spelling throughout.

Also by this author: pair this with my SEN Classroom Toolkit and Visual Timetable, same friendly visual style, designed to work together across your provision.
