The fourth lesson in the 2027 HE site for Elizabethan England - the Spanish Armada.
This lesson explores the key events of the Armada and begins to consider the reasons for failure. The lesson starts with a source comparison, recapping the importance of leadership - allowing students to link their knowledge to the sources. Students then annotate a source sheet in pairs to introduce the narrative of the Armada, leading to annotation of an A3 map telling the chronological story of the events of the Armada. Students then begin to pick out the key points where the Armada failed. Finally, a recap plenary allows retrieval of prior knowledge.
