Listening game for initial sounds, alphabet recognition, letter formation, phonics practice, literacy centres, ESL and early writing skills.

Listen, identify the first sound, and trace the matching letter. This interactive alphabet game gives children a natural transition from copying letters to early dictation, when writing whole words is still challenging but identifying and writing single letters is manageable.

ABC Bingo turns listening practice into a game. Children hear a word, identify its first letter, and find that letter on their board. The carefully designed rules prevent children from simply marking every space, so they need to listen closely and think about each word.

It is especially useful after a school holiday, when children need to refresh alphabet knowledge in an enjoyable way. It also works well towards the end of the school year as a playful way to review and reinforce learning.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

  • 26 reusable Bingo boards
  • 30 themed word banks
  • 30 words in each theme
  • Planning & Answer Guide
  • Student instructions
  • Alphabet letters arranged in a different order across the boards

Each themed word bank uses 16 alphabet letters. Ten letters are intentionally excluded from each theme, encouraging careful listening rather than allowing children to mark every letter.

HOW TO PLAY

Give each child a Bingo board.
Choose a themed word bank.
Read the words aloud one at a time.
Children listen for the first letter of each word.
They find the letter on their board and trace it.

The Planning & Answer Guide shows which letters appear in each theme, making it easy to choose a suitable game and check completed boards.
