Overview

A complete teaching and revision bundle for particle accelerators and detectors in Pearson Edexcel International A2 Physics. The resource develops the physics of linear accelerators, cyclotrons, electric- and magnetic-field roles, magnetic bending, cyclotron frequency, high-energy probing, ionisation detectors and particle-track analysis.

Students are supported through multi-step calculations using energy transfer, momentum, circular motion and de Broglie wavelength, before progressing to detector reconstruction, vector momentum conservation, missing momentum, uncertainty and graphical linearisation. Practical and experimental skills are developed through track-radius measurement, calibration, uncertainty analysis and evaluation of systematic limitations.

The complete bundle supports direct classroom teaching, independent study, revision and assessment preparation. A substantial classroom presentation deck is included as a core part of the full product, alongside student notes, worked examples, progressive questions, teacher planning and a detailed mark scheme.

What’s Included

This bundle includes:

  • Student Notes — Structured A2 notes covering accelerator operation, key derivations, detector principles, particle tracks, conservation laws, uncertainty and linearisation.
  • Worked Examples — Fully solved multi-stage problems with method selection, unit handling, interpretation and common-error checks.
  • Practice Questions — Guided and independent questions progressing from secure application to demanding unfamiliar contexts.
  • Challenge Questions — Higher-demand problems involving model limitations, vector reconstruction, linearisation, uncertainty and ion comparison.
  • Mini Assessment — A 40-mark original chapter assessment spanning explanation, derivation, calculation, data analysis and extended reasoning.
  • Mark Scheme — Detailed answers with working, mark allocation, acceptable alternatives, common errors and partial-credit guidance.
  • Lesson Plan — A four-lesson teaching sequence with starters, main activities, checks for understanding, differentiation, practical skills and homework.
  • Teaching Notes — Explanatory guidance, misconception interventions, questioning strategies, practical-data advice and classroom delivery support.
  • Presentation Slides — A premium classroom-ready slide deck for whole-class teaching, worked examples, guided practice, misconception checks, visual explanations, data analysis and lesson delivery.
