Selected England Year 8/KS3 maths: gradient from two points, paired table entries and equations y = mx + c; signed vertical/horizontal changes; positive, negative and fractional gradients; constant unit rates. Suitable after teaching coordinates, signed arithmetic and fractions. Not a whole-year curriculum, full assessment or GCSE coverage. No plotted-graph, vertical-line or undefined-gradient questions are included.

28 A4 pages: cover and adult guide;32 task cards on8pages;two16-box recording sheets;21-space partner game across3pages;10practice questions across2pages;4word problems;4error-analysis claims;8true/false claims;7pages of explained keys;terms. There are79 response positions, including deliberately repeated mathematical examples—not79unique concepts. Recording sheets repeat card responses, not additional questions.

All original32cards,21gamequestions,10practiceitems,4wordproblems,4erroritems and8true/falseclaims retained in order with original numerical data. British terminology uses gradient/maths/biscuits. Packing stories explicitly start at zero, making unit rate=count/time justified. Fractional coefficients are parenthesised; incorrect pupil gradient claims are separated from equations so they are not misleading chained equalities. Source recording-number mismatch corrected.

Print pupil pages3–20; keep explained keys21–27 with the adult. Model gradient=change in y/change in x using matching point order. Show working in the spacious boxes OR in an exercise book/on squared paper; record final answers and appropriate rate units. Accept equivalent exact fractions/decimals and mathematically equivalent working. Error-analysis keys correct the claim without inventing unseen pupil working.

Partner game:two players, one die,two large counters. Start0 and progress in number order1–21 across pages13–15. Cap overshoots at21. Solve the landing question on separate paper;partner checks only that key item. Correct:stay;incorrect:back one space,minimum0,no extra solve. First to answer21correctly wins. Keep keys hidden from the answering player.

Paper-only maths: no real packing, food, coins, stones or balloons needed. An adult may cut card borders; pupil cutting/lamination not required. Use large counters and keep away from mouths; adult handles cutting equipment. Work seated or walk with clear routes. Extra squared paper/reading support may be used; no speed score needed. St Patrick’s Day is a light fictional context, not a cultural-history lesson.

Single-classroom licence. Buyer receives one28-page PDF, also supplied alone in a PDF-only ZIP. Public preview includes cover and four uncompleted pupil cards only; no answers, worked example guide or keys.
