This is for the AQA ALevel: 2R specification and is part of my mini unit of work on Vietnam 1963-1973.

This lesson is lesson 2 plus homework-A source investigation on US military tactics and strategy under Westmoreland for the enquiry: Why did USA fail to achieve victory in Vietnam by 1968? This is very detailed and includes depth on Op Rolling Thunder and Op ranch hand, pineapple bombs and other failed US ground tactics, the issues with M16s, the draft and racism within US platoons as well as drug abuse and other reasons for poor morale also examines the My Lai Massacre and connection to search and destroy missions and failure to win hearts and minds.

Includes a very comprehensive set of resources including a carefully curated set of primary source material based around themes and all to support the enquiry on Why USA failed to achieve victory in Vietnam by 1968.
