A complete, ready-to-teach Scratch unit. Five lessons that take pupils from “I’ve never coded” to a finished maze game with an enemy that hunts them, a score, a countdown timer, and a difficulty they tune themselves.

Everything is done for you: printable pupil task sheets, projector-ready teacher slides with full teaching notes, and starter AND solution Scratch files for every single lesson. No prep, no login, no subscription.

THE FIVE LESSONS

Lesson 1 — Arrow Keys & Simple Maze. Coordinates, events, and using “touching colour” so the player can’t walk through walls.
Lesson 2 — Multiple Sprites & Enemy AI. A ghost that works out where the player is and chases them, built from three blocks.
Lesson 3 — Variables & Scoring. Making a variable, set vs change by, and random numbers so collectibles reappear somewhere new.
Lesson 4 — The Countdown. repeat-until, broadcast messages, and giving the game a way to be won AND a way to be lost.
Lesson 5 — Make It Yours. Sound, a high score that survives between games, and playtesting the difficulty until it feels right.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

5 pupil task sheets (PDF, 4-5 pages each)
5 teacher slide decks, 13 slides each, with teaching notes on every slide (PPTX — fully editable)
10 Scratch project files — a starter AND a solution for every lesson, supplied in a ZIP folder (.sb3 files, plus a plain-English “how to open” guide)
60 annotated step-by-step figures across the five sheets

WHY TEACHERS LIKE THIS SERIES

One tickable action per instruction — nothing is bundled, so pupils can’t silently fall behind
Every step ends with a “Check:” line, so pupils know when they’ve got it right
A “Stuck?” box on every sheet, written from the mistakes pupils actually make
Pupil self-assessment tick boxes at the end of every lesson
Cumulative vocabulary — Lesson 5’s sheet still defines Lesson 1’s words
Every lesson has its own starter file, so a pupil who misses a week rejoins with no catching up
Differentiation guidance for support and stretch built into every sheet

PERFECT FOR

KS3 Computing (Years 7-9)
Scottish CfE Third Level, S1/S2
A half-term unit, or a coding club that runs across a term
Cover lessons — the solution files mean a non-specialist can run any lesson
Anyone teaching Scratch who wants a proper unit rather than one-off tutorials.
