Watercolour Techniques | Abstract Composition | Colour Theory

This 2–3 lesson mini-unit introduces students to colour schemes and watercolour techniques through the abstract work of Paul Klee. Designed for iGCSE Art & Design, this resource builds strong technical, visual, and analytical skills while supporting students in developing experimental, personal responses.

Students explore how artists use colour to communicate mood, balance, and energy, using Klee’s Senecio and Castle and Sun as visual references. They then apply this understanding through structured watercolour practice and Klee-inspired abstract compositions.
