This lesson explores the various reasons why there was conflict and tension between the homesteaders and the cattle ranchers on the Great Plains of the American West

  • Slide 3: Recap - Students given an opportunity to recap their knowledge of homesteaders and cattle ranchers. Includes prompt questions and challenge.
  • Slide 4: An outline of the main causes of tension between the cattle ranchers and the homesteaders.
  • Slide 5-7: Task 1 - Students sort the arguments of the cattle ranchers and homesteaders. Includes answers and printable resource.
  • Slide 8: Task 2 - An opportunity for students to write their own transcript outlining an argument between a cattle rancher and a homesteader.
