Global English test (B1–B2) featuring Oprah Winfrey’s life, environmental action, urban growth, flexible work, and multicultural skills. Grammar, reading, sequencing.

This ready‑to‑use exam is ideal for grades 9–11 (ages 14–17) and young adult ESL/EFL learners. It covers a wide range of contemporary themes: inspirational biographies (Oprah Winfrey), environmental sustainability (green steps, bamboo picnicware), urban growth and public health, the shift from 9‑to‑5 to flexible work, and essential multicultural skills (empathy, communication, standing against prejudice).

The test includes multiple‑choice cloze passages on advertisements and leaflets, sentence sequencing to form logical dialogues and letters, a cloze passage on urban growth, and two longer reading passages (flexible work trends; skills for a multicultural future) with vocabulary (synonyms, antonyms, reference, paraphrasing, true/false, inference) and paragraph‑insertion questions. Answer keys and scoring guidelines can be added by the teacher.

Skills targeted:
Reading comprehension (main ideas, detail, inference, referencing, word meaning in context), lexical accuracy (collocations, fixed phrases, word forms), grammar (prepositions, word order, verb patterns), discourse management (reordering sentences into coherent texts), and critical thinking (evaluating benefits vs. challenges, identifying assumptions).

Key topics covered:
Overcoming adversity (Oprah’s biography), environmental action (reusable bags, sustainability), urbanisation (air pollution, healthcare strain, mental health), the future of work (remote work, freelancing, work‑life balance), multicultural competence (appreciating diversity, empathy, language learning, confronting discrimination).

Global in scope – no country‑specific references; suitable for international curricula, Cambridge English (PET/FCE), and end‑of‑term assessments.
