Finding Your Verse — Three‑Lesson Spider‑Verse Mini‑Unit

A dynamic, high‑engagement three‑lesson sequence that uses Into the Spider‑Verse and Across the Spider‑Verse to help students explore identity, representation, and multimodal storytelling. Designed for KS3 English/Media/extra curricular lessons, this mini‑unit blends visual literacy, character analysis, and creative composition, supported by a fully sequenced student booklet. There are lots of videos and screenshots to annotate and explore with students eventually creating their own comic page.

Students analyse how Miles, Gwen and others are represented through colour, dialogue and visual style; compare themes of belonging and identity across universes; and finally create their own Spider‑Verse‑inspired multimodal character page. The accompanying booklet provides structured tasks, modelled examples, annotation frames, creative templates, and success criteria, making the unit easy to teach and exciting to learn.

Guided Links: explore multimodal storytelling, identity in media, or representation theory.
