Students investigate the main events of the Battle of Hastings with a focus on tactics, weapons, location, leaders and the events of the battle which led to the death of Harold Godwinson.

A 26 slide fully resourced lesson including:
Slide 1: Title slide
Slide 2-4: A recap and overview gap fill activity covering the main events before the day of the battle. Printable resource and answers included.
Slide 5-7: Background information giving an overview of the two sides including the Housecarls, Fryd and William’s army.
Slide 8: A discussion activity based on an image of the battle from the Bayeux Tapestry.
Slide 9-16: A colourful and engaging account of what happened during the Battle of Hastings. This includes the key facts, checkpoint questions and challenge questions.
Slide 17-19: Task - Students use the worksheet to order the main events of the Battle of Hastings. Includes printable worksheet and answers.
Slide 20: Task - Students encouraged to recreate the events of the battle using what they have with them.
Slide 21-23: Task - A question sheet to go along with a clip from BBC Bitesize about the events of the Battle of Hastings. Printable resource and answers included.
