Rather than teaching the American West in order of the specification, I have reordered our curriculum to teach it according to 4 themes. These are:

1. Migration and Settlement
2. Law and Order
3. Cattle Industry
4. Indigenous People of the Plains

This approach has helped students in making stronger connections between the events they need to learn which directly supports their exam questions - especially the narrative account.
