Help pupils practise 3-step sequencing with real photos and learn first, next and last through familiar daily routines.

This structured printable resource helps pupils understand temporal order, organise familiar events and retell what happens in sequence. Clear photographs, predictable layouts and three differentiated levels make the activities suitable for pupils with autism, SEND and speech and language needs.

What Is Included
  • 24 familiar three-step routines and everyday events
  • 72 clear real-photo action images
  • 48 pupil activity pages
  • 59 total pages across two PDF files
  • Reusable First–Next–Last sequencing mat
  • Teacher guidance and preparation tips
  • Complete answer key
Three Differentiated Levels
  • Level 1: Picture-only sequencing cards
  • Level 2: Pictures with short sentences
  • Level 3: Circle, write or complete cut-and-stick tasks

The different response formats allow teachers to begin with visual picture sequencing and gradually introduce reading, writing and independent sentence ordering.

Skills Practised
  • First, next and last vocabulary
  • Three-step sequencing and temporal concepts
  • Understanding familiar daily routines
  • Oral and written retelling
  • Receptive and expressive language
  • Visual discrimination and fine motor skills
  • Attention, reasoning and independent task completion
Classroom Use

Use the activities for whole-class modelling, small-group teaching, one-to-one intervention, speech and language sessions, learning centres, task boxes or independent work. Cards can also be used for discussion, describing actions and practising short sentence structures.

Who It Is For

Suitable for Early Years, Reception and KS1, including early readers, non-readers and pupils who benefit from realistic visual support, reduced text and clear alternative response options.

File and Preparation Information

Two full-colour, CMYK PDF files are included in US Letter size: Levels 1–2 in landscape and Level 3 in portrait. Select “Fit to Page” when printing on A4 paper.

Level 3 can be used as a print-and-go activity when pupils circle and write. Levels 1–2 require cutting. For repeated use, print the cards on cardstock, laminate them and add hook-and-loop dots to the sequencing mat if desired.
