Free question level analysis (QLA) for the 2016 Year 1 phonics screening check: type each child鈥檚 marks and see every word, grapheme type and pupil group at a glance, with national comparisons.

Use it with the official 2016 phonics screening check materials from the Standards and 糖心Vlogting Agency.

What it shows:

  • Every word: the percentage of children who read it correctly, what it tests (single sounds, adjacent consonants, digraphs, trigraphs, split digraphs) and a teaching tip
  • Real and pseudo-words side by side, and Section 1 against Section 2
  • What next: the words to reteach first, the word types to focus on, the children to group together and the children close to the threshold
  • Groups: pupil premium, SEND, EAL and your own groups, compared with the 2016 national figures where they were published
  • Heat map and teaching groups: spot children who need the same help
  • A one-page report for every child, ready to print

Included: the QLA workbook (Excel .xlsx), blank and with example data.

The QLA has no macros, so nothing needs enabling, and it works in Excel for Windows or Mac. It holds up to 500 children, the calculations are locked so results can鈥檛 be broken by accident, and your data stays on your computer.
