A copy of a worksheet I made (inspired by the Accelerated Literacy pedagogy). It contains an extract of the novel (parts of chapter 9 and 10 – showing Dally’s reaction to Johnny’s death). Students have four colours which correspond with four language features. They are to read the passage and highlight these language features.

I have also included the teacher answers and the PPT used to easily display this and the follow up questions.
