This resource is a 1 week teaching sequence for the book You can’t let an elephant on the bus by Patricia Cleveland Peck.

It teaches children how to write an explanation text. They have to write a piece about why wild animals aren’t allowed on public transport. This sequence is 7 lessons and includes:
-Using zone of relevance to sort synonyms
-Writing noun phrases
-Using adverbs as sentence starters
-Using the conjunction ‘so’
-Writing the explanation text (modelled write included)
