A 250-word vocabulary resource for ages 7–12, built around America’s 250th anniversary, giving children the language to discuss it with confidence.

Covers 10 themes: Art in America, Togetherness & Belonging, Freedom, Rights & Social Justice, Democracy in Action, Learning, Science & Discovery, Nature & Environment, Politics, Activism & Change, The American Spirit, Journeys & Frontiers, and American Enterprise & Endeavor.

Each word comes with a child-friendly definition, a word map of synonyms and word pairs, and a short writing exercise to build comprehension and confidence.

Includes ready-to-use daily and weekly lesson plans that require no prep and fit straight into existing curriculum. Display pages on the whiteboard for whole-class discussion, or print for small-group and independent work.

Suitable for classroom teaching, homeschooling, tutoring, and vocabulary or writing intervention. Ties into history, civics, and social studies topics as well as core literacy instruction.

Illustrated by Craig Kellman (Madagascar, Minions). Vocabulary pedagogy developed with Dr. Susan Neuman, former U.S. Undersecretary of Education.

File type: PDF (digital download). Includes the complete 250-word set plus each of the 10 themes as separate files, viewable on any device.
