In this lesson, students will work towards the objective: To be able to describe the movement of the moon relative to the Earth.

Students will first learn about satellites and then how the Moon orbits the Earth as the Earth orbits the Sun. Using a variety of objects, they will represent these orbits physically. Following this, they will be tasked to explain their understanding and will finally have a quiz to complete.

The presentation- with links to online video clips and an activity sheet are all provided. A knowledge organiser for Earth & Space is also included.

This lesson is intended for Year 5 students but can easily be modified for all KS2 and KS3 students.
