Rooted: 38-Week Outdoor Learning plan | EYFS, KS1 & KS2

Looking for a simple, structured way to bring more outdoor learning into your week without adding to your planning workload?

Rooted is a 38-week outdoor learning plan inspired by Forest School principles, with a ready-to-use outdoor learning session for every week of the academic year.

Designed for EYFS, KS1 and KS2, Rooted takes children outdoors for purposeful, hands-on learning while giving educators a clear structure to work from.

Each weekly session includes:

• Learning objectives
• Equipment and preparation
• Clear jumping off points for the session
• An optional extension activity

The sessions are designed to take around 1 hour, with flexibility to extend them when time allows.

Rooted can be used in school grounds, playgrounds, gardens, local green spaces or woodland, and activities can be adapted to suit your setting and the children you work with.

The curriculum is divided across the Autumn, Spring and Summer terms, giving you a complete year of natur learning that you can follow week by week or dip into as needed.

No Forest School qualification is required, and there is no specialist equipment, fire lighting or tool use involved.
