Othello A Level lesson on Brabantio, Iago, Roderigo and the use of language in Act 1 Scene 1, as well as exploring Jacobean historical context, the patriarchal society, marriage and fatherhood during this time.

We focus on Shakespeare鈥檚 use of language as Iago and Roderigo exaggerate Othello鈥檚 secret marriage to Desdemona using imagery and the connotations these images convey. Includes differentiated activities, worksheets, extensive teacher and student notes and more.

The lesson includes structured and focused discussion questions for A-level students to use and adapt for their interpretations on characters, themes and context in the rest of Act 1 Scene 1. A very useful resource for KS5 English Literature students exploring the AQA Love Through the Ages unit.
