A 10-Lesson Narrative Literacy Unit of Work

Overview

Designed for KS3 literacy intervention (and suitable for upper KS2), this bundle includes the first five chapters of the Lexgrammia world, providing approximately 10 lessons of structured, immersive literacy teaching.

What does this resource do?

Students take on the role of adventurers in a world where language is breaking down. Across five chapters, they restore meaning by:

correcting spelling errors
understanding word structure (morphology)
rebuilding sentence structure (syntax)
selecting precise and effective vocabulary

Each chapter combines reading, discussion, problem-solving, and gameplay, culminating in a final “boss battle” that applies learning in a high-engagement format.

Unit Structure (10 Lessons Total)

Each chapter is designed for approximately two lessons:

Chapter 1 – Core spelling foundations
Chapter 2 – Morphology (roots and word building)
Chapter 3 – Prefixes and suffixes
Chapter 4 – Sentence structure (syntax)
Chapter 5 – Vocabulary and precision

Each chapter follows a consistent format:

narrative introduction and comprehension
interactive activities (worksheets and slides)
collaborative tasks and discussion
final boss battle (assessment through gameplay)
reflection and consolidation
